Testimonial Vitrobot

"An international success"

Dr Peter Frederik, former head of the Electron Microscopy Department at Maastricht University, now retired

"Our department used to be located next to IDEE in the early nineties. I had been interested in sample vitrification for some time and thought the process could and should become automated. When computer assisted design was introduced at IDEE in 1997, we started building the first Vitrobot prototype. In the years that followed, we improved the device and made it more attractive and elegant. We figured it should shine like a new espresso machine and make our colleagues think ‘what a nice piece of equipment, I'd like to work with that'. And they did."

Passion
"The licence to build the Vitrobot has been sold, but the R&D has been outsourced to MI. And for good reason: they offer an incomparable amount of passion and expertise.
Plus they are fast and practical, which makes collaboration a real pleasure for all parties involved.

I still visit regularly - they are very dear to me - and as long as I keep coming up with ways to perfect the Vitrobot, I'll keep coming back. It's great to see our collaboration so clearly fulfilling a need like this. The Vitrobot is an international success and is included in many leading scientific journals.
