Interregio Meeting @ Mecc Maastricht - 06-21-2011

Update: view photographs and presentations of this event here (LifeTecZone)

Since a number of years meetings on medical- and life science technology are being organised in Dutch and Belgian Limburg, the so-called "Interregio Meetings".  Organisation members are Maastricht Instruments (Maastricht), HemoLab Cardiovascular Engineering (Eindhoven), LifeTech Limburg (Hasselt-B), LifetecZONe (SE-NL), which are being supported by the Chambers of Commerce Limburg and Brabant and by POM Hasselt.

Each meeting has a specific theme. Last year the themes were: "At the crossroads of ict and life sciences", "Imaging" and the "R&D Service Boulevard". About 100 - 150 persons with diverse backgrounds participated in each meeting. Besides knowledge exchange (presentations, pitches, teasers), extensive network possibilities are present before, during and after the breaks. The meeting in Maastricht is made possible by the Maastricht Health Campus, the Chemelot Campus Geleen, the Chamber of Commerce Limburg and NV Industriebank LIOF. Target groups for the meetings are SME entrepeneurs, start-up companies, health and knowledge institutions in the South-East Netherlands and the Flemisch area.

The Interregio meeting of this year is held at the Mecc Maastricht in Dutch Limburg at June 22th. The theme of this meeting is 'From idea on the shelf, to bread on the shelf'. This theme has been chosen because of the decreasing innovation subsidies from the government. Alternative sources of financing are increasingly becoming of value to develop an idea from concept to market ready product. So-called informal investors' offer clear opportunities for this process. They can provide companies with 'smart money' . Informal investors invest not only money in a company, but also offer their knowledge and expertise. In total, around 160 visitors are expected at this event.
